Mr McNamara questioned the motives of the Friends of Fraser Organisation in releasing photographs supporting various concerns the organisation has regarding the appalling condition of the Indian Head campgrounds. Specifically the lack of toilets and showers to facilitate the needs of a camping population of approximately 150 people per night……seven days per week. These concerns were passed on to various media outlets including the ABC radio and the Hervey Bay Chronicle. Photographs were taken of toilet paper littering the parameters of the campgrounds, together with backpackers wandering around the proximity with shovels. Mr McNamara denounces our efforts to alert the public to this appalling situation as a media “beat up”. Since the so call media “beat up” the Queensland National Parks will now be providing the much needed facilities at the campground as a matter of urgency. The facilities will be in place within the next three months. It would seem that this has resulted from our involvement and public expression of concern. |
