The next serious dingo attack on Fraser Island will be sooner
than later. Friends of Fraser have grave concerns as to the safety of all
persons on the island and particularly at camping grounds. Incident report: (a) Dingo attack at Eurong in January 2002. (b) "FIDO" in their 100th edition identified that there had been 279 reported incidents between dingoes and humans on the island since 1996.Thirty-eight of them allegedly involved serious injury. That's not even taking into account the number of unreported incidents. (c) Dingoes stalking campers at designated camping area.- [Photographed on 13.02.02] (d) Dingoes feeding from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) bins 50 meters from unsuspecting campers.- [Photographed on 13.02.02] (e) Dingoes stalking campers inside camp area. [Photographed on 13.02.02] (f) Campers too scared to relieve themselves due to dingoes around camp area where no toilets have been provided. QPWS supply toilet 1.5km away. (g) Two overseas female campers concerned for their safety as dingoes were stalking the area surrounding and through the campground. They needed to relieve themselves and as the nearest toilets are 1.5 kilometers away, the area around the campground is the only other option. (h) A preoccupation with implementing an eight year old plan rather than effectively dealing with the reality of today will contribute to the next disaster. (i) The stench of hypocrisy is only overpowered by the stench coming from the garbage bins. (j) "Friends of Fraser" identifies another potential death trap at the Indian Head camp ground. (k) Government management plan forgot to include a direction to secure, empty or contain their own rubbish bins. [See photos] TENTS and PEOPLE within meters of NARROW TRACKS.
